Searching for “Web Capio” brings up a litany of examples of materials being abruptly removed due to a notice from the company (some valid and some not), including an attempt to take down a website for using the words “beatles” and “help” together (p.65). Mumith Ali has publicly spoken about using Ukie’s “clout” to justify sending “hundreds, if not thousands” of takedown notices to individual websites—an appropriate response to mass piracy, but totally inappropriate for the circumstances involving Cookie’s Bustle.
