Lean is backed by Mathlib, the largest coherent body of formalized mathematics ever created: over 200,000 formalized theorems and 750 contributors. Five Fields medalists engage with Lean. The same platform serves mathematicians formalizing theorems and engineers verifying production systems. ACM SIGPLAN recognized this convergence with its 2025 Programming Languages Software Award: “Lean has become the de facto choice for AI-based systems of mathematical reasoning.”
